32nd Conference of the European Cetaceans Society

The Annual Conference of the European Cetaceans Society (ECS) for 2018 was held in La Szpeia, Italy from 6 to 10 April. The program included two days of workshops and three full days of plenary sessions and poster sessions presenting wide range of topics.

Thanks to invitation and support by the ACCOBAMS Secretariat an expert from Green Balkans NGO participated in the Conference and two of the workshops. Two workshops organized by ACCOBAMS Secretariat were on following topics: “Marine debris and cetacean stranding” and “Towards understanding the overlap of selected threats and Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) across the Mediterranean Sea”. Green Balkans’ expert has presented a poster “Cetacean Stranding Network in Bulgaria: Development and Results” during the first workshop.

The 32nd Conference of the European Cetaceans Society gathered more than 300 experts from all over the world. In total more than 200 contributions have been presented with posters and speeches divided in different categories. Green Balkans NGO presented in “Habitat and Distribution” section the poster “Winter distribution of cetacean in Bulgarian Black Sea” with information and data gathered in the period November 2015 – March 2016.
