On December 4th 2017 in Kresna gorge an initiative was held, during which 300 trees were planted. Members of the team of Bright future for the black vulture LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 project participated in the activity. Employees from the administrative team also had the possibility to take part and to learn more about the filed work for the vultures conservation, which is extremely important for their effectiveness and motivation for realization of the project aims.

A meating with the representative of Kresna State forestry was held and discussions with representatives from the Southwest state enterprice – Blagoevgrad. The idea of the team was to realize a forestration on the territory, damaged by the widespread fire on the area of Pirin mountain, which destroyed thousands of decares in August 2017. Since removal of the woods damaged by the fire will be made and preparation of the soil, the realization of this idea was impossible, but preliminary discussions were held for involvement of the team of Green Balkans and volunteers, which in the spring of 2018 will support the restoration of the destroyed territories.

In December, the team of Green Balkans also planted 150 trees on the territory of „Sinite kamani“ Nature Park.
The forestration improves the nesting habitats in the area in which the team of Green Balkans works for feeding of the vultures and where nesting of the Griffon vultures colonies is expected in the future and also of Black vultures, we may hope. Precondition for attracion of the vultures in the area is the Griffon vultures nesting colony formed two years ago in the region of the city of Kotel, as the territory of Sinite kamani – Kotlenska mountain is thought to be the common territory of the birds, currently nesting in Kotel.
