Guests from the European Commission and the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water visited Green Balkans' Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre

During this week the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre welcomed high-ranking guests from the European Commission and the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water.

The guests, some of which Anjelo Salci, running the Life-Nature department, his colleague Mishel Kisheron from EASME and Mrs. Atanaska Nikolova, Deputy Minister in the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, were introduced to the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre's activities, as to various projects - Egyptian Vulture New LIFE LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874, The Bright Future for Black Vulture LIFE14 NAT/BG/649, “Lesser Kestrel Recovery” LIFE11 NAT/BG/360, Recovery of the Populations of Large European Vultures in Bulgaria LIFE08 NAT/BG/000278 and LIFE MC SALT,  the Centre's part of, financed by the EU's LIFE Programme.

After having a look at the Centre, the guests had the opportunity to release two birds - a Lesser Kestrel, hatched in the Centre as part of Lesser Kestrel Recovery, LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 Project, financed by the LIFE Programme, and a Red-footed falcon - treated at the clinic in the Centre.

The visit was part of the monitoring of project - LIFE 14 CAP/BG/000013 CAPTA BG, and the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre was chosen to represent good practices in projects, funded by LIFE, in Bulgaria.
