The White stork Belcho is in Ethiopia

Probably many of you remember Belcho the stork that we tagged with a GPS transmitter back in June at the European Stork Village Belozem. Since the middle of August has started its long migration to the south for its wintering grounds in Africa passing more than 5000 km and reaching Sudan in the end of August. During the long flight the stork has crossed Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. In the next two months Belcho has gradually crossed Sudan and settled in the southern part of the country close to the border with South Sudan.

One more training for volunteers on cetacean monitoring techniques

From 13th to 15th November one more exciting practical training was held within the project “Citizens’ support for study of Black Sea cetaceans along Bulgarian coast”. The participants had the chance to learn in theory how to identify Black Sea cetaceans during encounters in the sea and to put in practice what they have learnt.

Summary of Saker breeding season 2015

This year’s breeding season for the Saker Falcon has proven to be extremely successful.
Our target was to release 20 birds, and we managed to release 19. This was the first year that we had attempted to breed and release so many.
