The Green Balkans` Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center is preparing for the new breeding season of the Egyptian vultures

09.01.2018
For the past few days the team of the Green Balkans` Wildlife Rescue Centre has been observing active breeding behavior between the Egyptian Vulture pair, accommodated in a separate aviary. It was a signal for us that the breeding season for them is about to begin.

Therefore, our team, which is a part of the “Egyptian vulture New LIFE” project, decided that it was time to prepare for the upcoming exciting moments.

The pair was caught, disinfected and marked with a harmless spray – each bird in a different color. Meantime, the other part of our team was working hard in the aviary – the home of the birds, constructed with the kind support of the City Council of Prague and Zoo Prague. The floor and the walls were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and the nest platform was covered with nest material – sticks, wool and feathers.

The birds are currently again masters of their home and we will observe by web-cameras installed in the cage the life of the young couple … because what is interesting is still about to come.
