The seminar is a part of the project: "Germany's Experience in Implementing EU Legislation: Natura 2000 - Management and Financing".
The project is being implemented by Green Balkans – Stara Zagora and I financed by Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany through the Environment Agency (UBA). The scientific coordination of the project is being implemented by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). The Bulgarian partner in the project is the Ministry of Environment and Waters (MOEW), National Nature Protection Service, Department "NATURA 2000".
The seminar took place in Hotel Central Forum. More than 50 participants were trained.
The trainees were mainly experts from the Regional Inspectorates for Environment and Waters who are responsible for the biodiversity and preventive activities.
The lecturers were experts with long term experience in the implementation of the Habitats Directive. Their presentations gave answers to many important questions and specific situations in Bulgaria.
In the beginning of the seminar Dr. Axel Ssymank from BfN symbolically handed to the Bulgarian Ministry more than 600 translated pages of German materials (manuals, methodological references, etc.) related to the management and protection of Natura 2000. The materials were translated and edited within the same project.
