Main task
The Project’s main task is support for the fulfillment of Bulgaria’s commitments to reduce and halt the loss of biological diversity and the priorities of the Program for Enforcement of Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora and Council Directive 79/409/EEC on the conservation of wild birds. The main interventions planned under this project are implemented within two NATURA 2000 sites, a Protected Site, and a Ramsar Site. These interventions will have a direct impact on the restoration of breeding habitats of seven target bird species (subject to protection under the Biological Diversity Act and Directive79/409/ЕЕС), the protection and maintenance of five natural habitats (subject to protection under the Biological Diversity Act and Directive 92/43/ЕЕС), the reduction of the anthropogenic pressure, and the management of the tourist flow.
