[08-03-2019] We extend the deadline for the children drawing contest ‘Conserving wetlands and fighting against climate change in our region’
Dear friends!

After we have celebrated the World Wetlands Day - 2nd February in different parts of the country and have already recieved drawings from many places in Bulgaria, we've decided to extend the deadline for the contest. The contest is dedicated to some of the most important habitats of European conservation concern, subject to conservation in Natura 2000 - Wetlands.
We briefly remind you the terms of the contest, that aims to give children the opportunity to express their creativity and talent and stimulate their interest regarding:
- Climate change
- Nature and its’ importance for people
- Conserving wetlands in Bulgaria and the world
- The uniqueness of Bulgarian nature and the importance of conserving it in our region

All children between 1st and 8th grade can participate with their own unique and inspiring drawing!

In the spirit of uniqueness we urge all participants to choose their own technique and the materials they use as well as the genre.

You can send your works at the Green Balkans office in Plovdiv between the 2nd of February and the 8th of March:

All works will be evaluated until the 20th of March by:

1. Vesela Petrova - graduated the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Veliko Turnovo St Cyril and St. Methodius and is currently a PhD students at the Department of Mural Painting. She has taken part in a series of national and international events - art projects, workshops, interactive installations and international forums.
‘I support the popularizing of wetlands as an important resource reservoir as well as natural protection against disasters such as droughts and floods!’

2. Viktoriya Georgieva - Founder and teacher at the ‘Alphabet of the imagination’ children group. She graduated Pedagogy of teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Veliko Turnovo St Cyril and St. Methodius. Currently she is a freelance artist in the area of contemporary mural painting, painting and drawing.
Viktoriya is not indifferent to the problems of our society. She has faith in people to protect and preserve Nature - our only home!

3. Nevena Lefterova - graduated the Department of Mural Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Veliko Turnovo St Cyril and St. Methodius, where she is currently developing works. As a PhD she studies three dimensional street art and is working on large-scale mural projects in Bulgaria and abroad as part of the Giartcrew art group. The group’s works can be seen in many Bulgarian and European cities.
‘Is there any better cause than preserving nature? Each and every one of us can start with a simple step!’

Results will be published on the 21st of March at the Green Balkans website:

The jury will approve which paintings will take part in an exhibition at the end of March at the Museum of Natural History in Plovdiv as part of the World Water Day celebrations.

The authors of the evaluated works in the competition dedicated to some of the most important habitats of European conservation importance, a conservation site in Natura 2000 - the wetlands, will be awarded with:
1st place - T-shirt and a ‘Magic of the Pomorie Lake’photoalbum
2nd place - a branded textile bag and a puzzle
3rd place - ‘The adventures of Brent, the Red-breasted goose’ book and a ‘Birds in the Pomorie Lake‘ bird identification guide.
